El Paso TX: Who Knew? No Puppy Over $50?

And we think we live in a country where “entrepreneur” and “commercial business” can flourish???? Shelters routinely charge $125, $145 for their animals. If they can’t fetch the price they kill them. They don’t usually give them away. But they expect a business to give them away, just about?  Why couldn’t they make up a law that says you can’t sell a calf under age X for more than $X amount?  Or a used car?  Since when do people have to prove how much they spent on anything to sell it? We didn’t read the entire ordinance so we could have erred. Very busy.

———————————————————————–

No retail establishment may sell or transfer a dog or cat that is under one year of age for a charge or amount that is greater than is allowed in subsection E. Provided however, a retail establishment legally selling dogs or cats for profit as of April 1, 2011, may continue to sell dogs or cats under one year of age, at a price that is greater than is allowed in subsection E., through December 31, 2012. Thereafter, commencing on January 1, 2013, no retail establishment may sell or transfer a dog or cat under one year of age for a charge or amount that is greater than is allowed in subsection E, regardless of when the inventory was procured.
